Health and Safety
All responsible employers are united in their belief that safe working systems are also efficient working systems, but many managers find the amount of legislation surrounding the safe use of fork lift trucks to be increasingly burdensome. In this guide to the main legislation affecting the use of fork lift trucks, the regulations are explained in straightforward terms and outlines where Rushlift can help in relieving the burden.
The two main regulations governing the use of fork lift trucks are:
Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations:
1998 – LOLER
And
Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations:
1998 – PUWER
Both of these regulations were issued under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and impose clear obligations on employers for the safety of employees, whist using equipment at work. The regulations are not confined to fork lift trucks. In the case of LOLER cover all equipment used to lift loads, and in the case of PUWER all equipment used in the workplace.
