Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations: 1998 – LOLER
Thorough Examinations
All items of lifting equipment must be subject to Thorough Examination to detect any safety related deterioration. The frequency is set by the Competent Person who carries out the Thorough Examination depending on the operational usage, specification and environment in which the equipment is operated.
The maximum length of time between Thorough Examinations is 6 months for “man-up” machines (such as elevating order pickers), and lifting accessories (such as personnel cages, battery lifting beams), and 12 months for fork lift trucks providing they are not used to lift personnel cages.
Thorough Examinations are also required following exceptional circumstances such as an accident or dangerous occurrence, following a significant change in conditions of use or following a long period out of service.
How can Rushlift help?
Rushlift employs a number of independent Competent Persons across the UK to perform Thorough Inspections on its own fleet of fork lift trucks on hire. Unlike many of its competitors, this service is normally included in the price of the long term hire trucks. Other companies can take advantage of the service by ringing 0800 7315 035 By employing Rushlift to perform Thorough Examinations customers will receive an inspection service to the highest of industry standards and an unbiased report that is widely accepted by insurance companies and the HSE. Customers of this service are given access to computerised records of inspections performed and reminders when the next inspection is due.
